Linda Arrowood Hamrick Obituary
Linda Arrowood Hamrick, a wife, mother, grandmother (“Grammy”), daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025.
Linda was a native of Rutherford County, North Carolina, and a graduate of East Rutherford High School. She built a life grounded in family, kindness, and a genuine love for people.
She was preceded in death by her father, Adam Arrowood; her stepfather, Tom Brown; and her stepsister, Beth Brown.
Linda is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Gary Hamrick; her sons, Shane Hamrick (wife Julie), and Matt Hamrick; and her grandsons, Benjamin Hamrick, Nicholas Hamrick, and Zachary Hamrick. She is also survived by her mother, Betty Brown; her sister, Susan Cochran (husband Dennis); and her stepbrother, David Brown.
Linda’s professional career reflected her strong work ethic and attention to detail. She worked in purchasing management and accounting before retiring from the Isothermal Planning and Development Commission after more than 20 years of dedicated service. Following retirement, she poured her heart into a passion project, founding Hamrick Group Tours. Her favorite place to vacation was anywhere with an ocean view, but her love of travel extended far beyond the scenery. Linda traveled with her cherished “bus family” to destinations including New York City, Mackinac Island, and the New England seacoast, among many others. More than the destinations, she treasured the countless friendships she made along the way.
Linda deeply loved her family. She and Gary enjoyed dining out together and became familiar faces to servers throughout the area, often joined at least once a week by their son Matt. She treasured visits with Shane and Julie and delighted in spending time with her grandsons, especially attending their games and concerts. Linda also loved shopping with her mother, Betty, and spending time visiting her sister Susan and brother-in-law Dennis. She also enjoyed her lunch dates with her close friends.
Known for her kind heart and giving spirit, Linda volunteered as a reading tutor for young children, supported numerous charitable causes, and was a former member of the Pilot Club of Rutherford County. She lived her life quietly serving others, always with warmth and compassion.
Linda will be remembered most for her beautiful smile, her generous heart, and her unwavering love for her family and friends. Her legacy of kindness and connection will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:45 on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at The Padgett and King Mortuary. A service for family and close friends will follow at 2:30 at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
