Martha Letha Roach Dobbins, age 92 of Ellenboro, died Friday, September 3, 2021, at home surrounded by her family. Letha was born on August 31, 1929, in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Coster Lee and Effie Jane Cole Roach. She was a faithful member of Corinth Baptist Church where she had taught the Lady’s Sunday School Class. She had also served in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and in recent years enjoyed the Rutherford County Senior Center. Letha enjoyed spending many hours coloring and sharing her work with others to help brighten their day.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Odell Dobbins, a brother, Arthur Lee Roach and a sister, Betty Cole.
Survivors include her sons, Ronald Odell Dobbins and wife Hannah Elaine of Shelby, Timothy Wayne Dobbins and wife Tina of Ellenboro, her daughters, Patricia Dobbins Rollins and husband Brent of Rutherfordton and Martha Kaye Jernigan and husband, Doug of Ellenboro, her sister, Ernestine Davis, and husband James of Forest City. There are also 10 grandchildren, 18 Great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild as well as her special friend from the Senior Center, Lynn Potter, and her caregiver that she called an angel, Louise Atkins.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Corinth Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Conner and Reverend Ad Hopper officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Sanctuary at Corinth Baptist on Wednesday from 12:30 until 1:45 pm prior to the service.
