Lester Wayne Murray, 87, of Mooresboro, died Saturday, July 24, 2021 at his residence.
Born November 8, 1933 in Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Paul and Agnes Green Murray. He worked in truck delivery service and textiles before retiring from Mastercraft. Lester was a proud veteran serving in the United States Army. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Flayree Hopper Murray and second wife Rebecca Greene Murray as well as son Timothy Wayne Murray and brother Walter Murray.
Survivors include his son, Mark Murray and wife Lee of Forest City; his step-sons, David Coggins and wife Barbara of Boiling Springs, and Chris Coggins and wife Emily of Mooresboro; his sisters, Louise Gettys and husband Emmitt of Hollis, Eunice Hoppes and husband Earl of Bostic, Ruth Arrowood and husband Ronnie of Sunshine, and Betty Smith and husband Dennis of Bostic; his grandchildren, Clint Murray and Molli, Samantha Murray Marks and husband Lucas, Jay Murray, William Warren Coggins, Axton Anderson Coggins, Morgan Coggins and Heidi Coggins; and great-grandchildren, Callie Murray, Allie Murray and Hunter Murray.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 28 at 1pm at the Sulphur Springs Baptist Cemetery officiated by Dr. Eric Davis. The Padgett & King Mortuary & Crematory is serving the Murray family. An online guest registry is available at www.padgettking.com.
