Lawrence "Bo" White Obituary

Lawrence “Bo” White, age 87 of Bostic died Monday, September 29, 2025, at his home following a sudden illness.  Lawrence was born on October 22, 1937, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Howard Doyle White and Mary Ruth Melton White.

Bo, as he was known to his family and friends was a graduate of Sunshine High School in the Class of 1956 and he served his country in the United States Army from 1961 until 1964.  Bo was a graduate of the Nashville Diesel College, and he worked in the Maintenance Department for Cone Mills where he retired.   He was also a faithful member of Salem United Methodist Church. He loved working outside, farming and mowing grass. 

In December of 1973 He married Martha Jean McFarland, and they remained married for 52 years until her death in May of 2025.  He was also preceded in death by his sister, Gwendolyn White Gettys in 2022.

Survivors include his brother, Gary White and wife Vickie of New Bern, North Carolina, his niece Kelly White Turner of Atlanta, Georgia, his nephew, Chris White of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and many caring friends, neighbors and church members.

The memorial service will be held at 11 o’clock on Friday, October 3, 2025, in The Padgett and King Chapel with the Reverend Kathy Earley officiating.  Interment will follow at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o’clock prior to the service.
