George William “Junior” Jones, Jr, age 62 of Ellenboro died Thursday, June 22, 2023.  Junior, as he was known to family and friends, was born on May 6, 1961, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late George William Jones, Sr. and Syble Walker Jones.  He worked as a Construction Superintendent for many years with Delta T Construction until his recent retirement.  Following retirement, he worked for Thompson Exterminating. 

Junior was a lifelong member of Corinth Baptist Church where he enjoyed his church family.  He was an avid golfer, trout fisherman and a fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Duke Blue Devils.  His love of family was evident in everything he did, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life.  Helping others came naturally to Junior.

Survivors include his son, Curtis Jones and wife Michelle of Summerville, SC, his daughter, Kelly Jones Joyce and husband Anthony of Ellenboro, his sister, Debra Jones Brown and husband Donald of Ellenboro, his fiancée, Sheena Lynch and her children which he considered his own, Tiffani Lynch and Ryan Lynch, as well as his grandchildren, Kiersten, Kendall, Leah, Willie, Haden, Avery, Landon, and Brantlee and great-grandchildren, Kamdyn, Sawyer, and Kaisley.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Corinth Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Conner and Reverend Ad Hopper officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 on Monday evening at Padgett and King Mortuary.
