Joy Thompson Hoyle, age 64 of Spindale, died Thursday, November 25, 2021, at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. She was born on January 8, 1957, in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late James Howard Thompson and Mary Maggieleen Owens Thompson. Joy was a homemaker and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Shelby but had recently been attending her home church, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Rutherfordton. Joy was a graduate of R-S Central High School and she attended Isothermal Community College. She also had assisted in planning class reunions.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Hoyle who died in 2015 and a son, Ricky Hoyle.
Survivors include her son, Travis Hoyle, a daughter, Shannon Fowler, her brother, James Arnold “Jimmy” Thompson, Rutherfordton, her sister, Rose Mary Thompson Weathers of Forest City, her sister-in -law, Patti Hopper of Forest City, three grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her special neighbors who have been so loving and supportive of Joy.
A funeral service will held at 2 o’clock Monday, November 29, 2021, at The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend James Henson and Reverend Barry Goodman officiating. Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o’clock prior to the service.
