Johnny James Garland, 64, of Ellenboro, NC died Thursday, February 20, 2025.  He was born in Yancey County, NC and was a son of the late James Garland and Frances Bution Garland.  Johnny worked for Rutherford County Solid Waste as a heavy equipment operator for many years before his retirement.  He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, Ellenboro.  He was a devoted family man and known as jack of all trades.

Survivors include his wife, Linda B. Garland of the home; daughters, Wendy Garland (Donny Beeson) and Christi Shive (Kerry), all of Ellenboro, NC; brothers, Bill Garland and David Garland (Annette), all of Rutherfordton, NC; sisters, Wanda Brinkley (Wayne) of Spruce Pine, NC, Penny Johnson (Daniel) of Bakersville, NC, Kathy Jones (Judd) of Rutherfordton, NC and Barbara Miller; grandchildren, Tristan Causby, Shelby Causby, Devin Shive, and Shawn Shive; and a great grandson, Maverick Causby.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 2 pm in the Padgett & King Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Monday at the mortuary.
