Joe Brooks Wilson, age 84 of Lake Lure died Saturday, January 8, 2022, at her residence.
Born April 27, 1936, in Gaston County, North Carolina she was the daughter of the late Jeff and Carra White Brooks. She worked as a Supervisor for General Instruments prior to her retirement and was a member of Chimney Rock Baptist Church for more than 60 years. Joe was a member of the church choir until recently and served on many committees, including the food committee. Joe was a graduate of Lake Lure High School and was a faithful and devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother.
Surviving is her husband of 63 years, Robert Wilson of the home; one son, Robert Wilson and wife Aimee of Sapphire, NC; and five grandchildren, Brooks Wilson of Arden, NC, Madyson Wuest of Atlanta, GA, Meghan Wuest of Arden, NC Maxwell Wuest of Athens, GA and Gabriel Wilson of Charleston, SC.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at 2 o’clock at the Chimney Rock Baptist Church with Reverend Gene Daggerhart and Reverend Alex Heafner officiating. Interment will follow in the church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family has requested that all attendees wear masks.
