Joe McFarland

Joseph Abraham “Joe” McFarland, age 77 of the Duncan’s Creek Community, died Sunday, December 5, 2021.  Joe was born on June 26, 1944, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Robert Ernest McFarland and Lula Barrett McFarland.  He was a lifelong member of Duncan’s Creek Church and is remembered by his family as loving and wonderful brother.  Joe worked for Dover Textiles in Shelby and for the former Breeden Poultry in Morganton. 

Survivors include his brother, Billy McFarland of Duncan’s Creek, his sisters, Mary Downs of Duncan’s Creek, Addie Mae Greene of Morganton and Paulette VanDyke and husband Martin of Golden Valley.  There are also a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 3 o’clock Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Duncan’s Creek Church with Reverend Max Burgin and Reverend Bart Shaw officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church from 2 until 3 o’clock prior to the service.
