Jo Ann Silver McCurry, age 85 of the Sunshine Community, Bostic, died Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Hospice House in Forest City. Jo Ann was born on September 19, 1935 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Lloyd Vance Silver and Anace Calhoun Silver.
Jo Ann was a longtime member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school, was a youth leader and served on various church committees. She worked for Skyland Textiles where she was a supervisor until the plant closed. She then worked for Parker-Hannifin Corporation until her retirement after 26 years service. In her home life, Jo Ann was a wonderful homemaker where she found much joy in caring for her family as well as cooking and canning.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd D. McCurry who died in 2011 and her brothers, James Silver and Vance Silver.
Survivors include her son, Tommy McCurry and wife Kathy of Bostic, as well as nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 3 o’clock Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church with the Reverend Steven Cooper and Reverend Ad Hopper officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock on Tuesday at The Padgett and King Mortuary.
