Mr. Jimmy Broadus Harris, 78, of Woodfield Drive, Forest City, North Carolina, entered into eternal rest with the Lord Jesus Christ on December 19th, 2025, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Jimmy was born on January 9th, 1947, in Gaffney, South Carolina, to the late Broadus and Polly Harris. He graduated from East Rutherford High School in 1965 and Cecil’s Business College in 1967. He married Laura Lee Waters on September 4th, 1966, at Sandy Mush Baptist Church. The Reverend J.E. Poole officiated the service. 

 Jimmy began his career with Duke Power Company in 1967. He was drafted into the United States Army and served our country from 1968 to 1970, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. He returned from military service and had a distinguished career at Duke Power Company from 1970 to 2001. After retiring at 55, Jimmy became a “Grandy” and devoted his life to loving his grandchildren, family, and friends, and to playing the game he loved most, golf.

Surviving are his two sons, Chris and Scott. Scott Harris is from Forest City, and Chris Harris, along with his wife, Mellony, are from Crozet, Virginia. Surviving are two precious grandchildren, whom he loved with all of his heart. The grandchildren are Christopher Luke Harris, who is an officer in the United States Navy, currently stationed in Charleston, S.C., serving at the Navy Nuclear Power Training Command, and Ashlee Bryn Harris, who will graduate from nursing school at the University of Virginia in May. Grandy’s encouragement, big smile, sharp dress, and kindness will be loved and greatly missed.

The Memorial Service will be held at 11 o’clock on Saturday, December 27, 2025, in The Padgett and King Chapel with the Reverend Daniel Selman officiating.  Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o’clock prior to the service at the mortuary
