Jessie Hollifield Maloney Hudson, 89 of Forest City died Monday, December 4, 2023 at Fair Haven of Forest City. She was born on July 30, 1934 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Quinton and Pearl Wells Hollifield. She was a graduate of Sunshine High School and retired from The Town of Forest City where she worked in the clerk’s office. After her retirement from the town, she worked for a number of years with Graham-Cash in Forest City. She was a member of Harriet Memorial Freewill Baptist Church in Caroleen.
She is survived by her son Johnny Maloney (Jo Ann) and daughter Janet Maloney Gettys all of Bostic, North Carolina. Her grandchildren Chad McFarland (Heather), Lester Maloney, Bobby Maloney and Beth Chase (Greg). There are 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Reverend Clyde J. Maloney; second husband Ralph Hudson; daughter Marilyn Maloney Butler in 2023; sister Dessie Chapman and son-in-law Wayne Gettys.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at one o’clock in the afternoon at The Padgett & King Chapel with the Reverend Mike Cash officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 at the mortuary prior to the service. Interment will follow at Cool Springs Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church, 1930 US Highway 221 A, Forest City, North Carolina 28043.
