Jerry Dunaway

Jerry Wayne Dunaway, 47, of Shelby, NC, died Saturday, September 23, 2023 at his home.  Born in Rutherford County, he is the son of Sheila Adkins Hall of Rutherfordton, NC, and the late Jerry “Dink” Dunaway.  He had served as general manager of various restaurants during his culinary career. Jerry enjoyed golf, and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sarah Cole Dunaway of the home; sister, Laura Dunaway of Bostic, NC; nephew, Clayton Burnette and fiancé Kaylee; step-mother, Elizabeth Dunaway of Rutherfordton, NC; and his father and mother-in-law, Robert and Claudia Cole of Rutherfordton, NC. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Curt Hall.

A memorial service will be held 2 pm Friday, September 29, 2023 in the Shiloh Baptist Church, 1850 Poors Ford Road, Rutherfordton. Interment will be private in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 pm Friday in the sanctuary of the church.  In addition to flowers, the family request memorials be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Dr, Shelby, NC 28150.
