Jerry Lee Akers, age 72 of Mooresboro, died Friday, November 12, 2021, at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby. Jerry was born on November 23, 1948, in Terre Haute, Indiana and was a son of the late Ernest LeRoy Akers and Anna Lorraine Schoffstall Akers. Jerry was a man of many talents and jobs, but the job he loved most was as a fireman in Winter Haven, Florida. He served his country in the United States Army.
Jerry loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren was his greatest joy.
Survivors include his wife, Beverley Bradshaw Akers of the home, his daughters, Mindy Akers (Mike Hedl) of Surf City, North Carolina, Jennifer Smart (John) of Boiling Springs, North Carolina, his sister, Shirley Mansch of Chicago, Illinois, grandchildren, Sierra Smart (Dakotah), Shane Bircheat, Devin Bircheat, Tyler Smart and Jack Smart, as a great-grandchild, Weston Smart.
The family will have a private service to celebrate his life.
