Jay Murray

Mark James “Jay” Murray, Jr., age 30 of Forest City died Sunday, September 17, 2023.  Jay was born on February 5, 1993, and was a lifelong resident of Rutherford County.  He worked in construction and was a member of Florence Baptist Church.  He was a devoted father to his children, and he enjoyed everything outdoors. 

Survivors include his parents, Mark and Lee Collins Murray of Forest City, his son, Hunter James Murray and his daughter, Allie Nicole Murray, his sister, Samantha Marks and husband Lucas of Rutherfordton, a nephew, Madden Marks, his aunts and uncles, Geni and Dave Greenley, Jimmy and Lindsey Collins as well as his many cousins. 

The funeral service will be held at 11 o’clock on Friday, September 22, 2023, in The Padgett and King Chapel with the Reverend Greg Huntley officiating.  The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:45 prior to the service at the mortuary.  Interment will be private for the family at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Cemetery
