James (Jim) Michael Roettger, age 80, of Summerville, South Carolina died Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Roper Berkeley Hospital in Summerville.

Jim was born on August 24, 1944, in Hamilton, Ohio.  He was the middle of three sons born to George and Mildred Simmons Roettger.

Jim served in the Army from 1965 to 1967 with Strategic Communication Command.  After his military service he attended Georgetown College as well as the University of Kentucky.  Jim worked for many years with George Transfer Company and later as an independent under Roettger and Associates Transfer Company.

Jim was predeceased by his wife, Kay Vess Roettger and his brothers Daniel Roettger and Bill Roettger.

Survivors include his cousin Debbie Schellenbach (Ed), nieces Jennifer Carder and Sherri Salyer, sister-in-law Betty Vess Cash (John) and their children Matthew and Megan Cash.

A private service with military honors accorded by The Rutherford County Honor Guard is set for May 8 at Montford Cove Baptist Church Cemetery in Union Mills.
