James Millard Ramsey

James Millard Ramsey, age 84 of Spindale, died Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Hilltop Health and Rehabilitation in Rutherfordton.   James was born on September 21, 1939, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Clyde and Ruth Mayse Ramsey.  He was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church and retired from Spring Ford Industries where he worked as a dye operator.  James loved the town of Spindale, and the Spindale Fire Department.  He was a dedicated firefighter and served there for 21 years.   James was a faithful husband, a loving and devoted father and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Lane Ramsey who died in 2019, and his sisters, Mary Ann Gilreath and Marie Smith.

Survivors include his daughters, Connie Ramsey King and husband Blake of Forest City, Julie Ramsey Webb and husband Wayne of Spindale, his grandchildren, Cameron Greene, Connor Greene, and Callie Greene, his brothers, Bobby Ramsey of Morganton, Wayne Ramsey, Clyde Ramsey, Jr., and Jerry Ramsey all of Bostic, his sisters, Betty Richards, of Inman, SC, Helen Turner of Forest City and Lola Morrow of Bostic. 

A memorial service will be held at 1 o’clock on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at the Mt. Harmony Baptist Church with Reverend Steven Cooper officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church.  Interment will be held privately at Sandy Level Baptist Church Cemetery.
