James Ervin Morehead, age 81 of Bostic died April 17, 2026, at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. James was born on February 3, 1945, and was a son of the late James Avery Morehead and Aileen Dysart Morehead. He worked his entire career with Duke Power Company where he retired after many years’ service. He also owned a rug manufacturing business where he made and sold braided rugs as well as a driver for Railroad Express, transporting railroad workers to and from job assignments.
James was a member of Campfield Baptist Church, and for a time drove the bus for the Church of the Exceptional. He loved being outdoors and in his younger years enjoyed dove hunting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Morehead Crispin.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Morehead Ledford, his grandson, Jesse Ray Ledford both of Bostic, as well as a niece and his cousins.
