James Delmas “J D” Dodson, age 83, of Lake Davis Road, Ellenboro, died Friday, January 17,2020 at his home. J.D. was born November 25, 1936 in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Carlos and Jennie Sisk Dodson. He worked for Rutherford County Solid Waste and retired as Director of the Rutherford County Landfill and Convenience Centers.
J.D. was a faithful member of Corinth Baptist Church where he was a former member of the Cemetery Committee. He also enjoyed farming and raising beef cattle. He had a love of antique tractors and restored many in his lifetime as well as being a skilled tractor mechanic. J.D. was a man of unwavering faith and he was forever the peace maker in any situation. J.D. had an unconditional love for his family and in return his family loved him more than words could express. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, James Delmas Dodson, Jr and daughter-in-law, Wilhelmina Hensley Dodson.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Rose Mary Morgan Dodson of the home, grandchildren, Tiffany Dodson-Greene and husband Jerry of Ellenboro, James Charles Dodson and wife Aparna of Fort Collins, CO, great-grandchildren, Addison Riley Greene and Caden Jamison Greene, two brothers, Hansel Dodson and wife Betty of Ellenboro, Mike Dodson and wife Rita all of Ellenboro, his daughter-in-law, Nancy Dodson of Ellenboro as well as nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Corinth Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Conner, Reverend Ad Hopper and Reverend Dr. David Jendrey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock Friday evening at Padgett and King.
