Jacola (Phillips) Ray

Jacola "Jackie" Phillips Ray, 85, of Forest City, NC died Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, Forest City.  A native of Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Glady Overton Phillips and widow of Lonnie Carroll Ray.  Jacola worked as an administrative assistant for many years and later became an independent contractor for Bob Timberlake and The Pampered Chef.  She was a member of Florence Baptist Church where she served on the seasonal-floral committee for many years and was a member of the senior adult choir.

Survivors include her son, Phillip Anthony Ray and wife Lisa Crawley Ray; grandsons, Jeremy Phillip Ray and wife Elizabeth Smith Ray and Dustin Andrew Ray and wife Christy Pickering Ray; great grandsons, Zachary Connor Ray and Liam Michael Ray; sisters, Glenda P. Schultz, Janice P. Baynard, and Carolyn P. Silvers and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at eleven o'clock in the morning on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Florence Baptist Church, Forest City with Rev. Daniel Selman officiating.  Interment will follow in the Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from five until seven in the evening on Wednesday at The Padgett & King Mortuary.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alz.org.
