Hubert L. Hardin, age 93 of Forest City died Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville.  Hubert was born on February 19, 1932, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Dewey L. Hardin and Annie Haulk Hardin. 

Hubert was a faithful member of the First Wesleyan Church of Forest City, a graduate of Harris High School, and he honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict

Hubert worked for many years at Fieldcrest Cannon Textiles.  After the plant closed, he went to work for the Rutherford County Sheriffs Department where he worked as an Inmate Transfer Officer until his retirement. 

He loved his family and was dedicated to always providing for them.  His granddaughter Skylar was the apple of his eye.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Jean Davis Hardin in 2022, his sisters, Frances Brantley, Helen Davis, and Peggy Hardin, and his brothers, Howard Hardin, Mickey Hardin, and Ronnie Hardin. 

Survivors include his son, Joey Hardin and wife Tracy of Forest City, his granddaughter, Skylar Hardin of Forest City, his sisters, Dot DeBrule and Susie Hardin both of Forest City, his brother, Tim Hardin of Forest City, his brother-in-law, Raymond Davis (Lucia) of Rutherfordton, his sisters-in-law, Carolyn Vess and Husband Harold of Asheville, and Elsie Robinson of Old Fort as well as many nieces an nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 3 o’clock on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the First Wesleyan Church with the Reverend Eric Yelton officiating.  Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends in the church Sanctuary from 2 until 3 o’clock prior to the service.  The Rutherford County Sheriffs Office will post guard during the visitation.
