Hicks Helton Obituary

Hicks William Helton, 79 of Cliffside, North Carolina died Monday, October 2, 2023, at Fairhaven Home of Forest City.  Hicks was born on July 19, 1944, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Carl Helton, Sr. and Ammie Luckadoo Helton.  He was self-employed for most of his life investing time and energy in numerous business concerns including B & H Guttering and Siding and the Country Plaza at Cliffside. 

Hicks was a lifelong Baptist and a graduate of Ellenboro High School in the Class of 1962.  He also honorably served his country in Vietnam in the United States Marine Corps. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Candy Helton and brothers, Carl Helton, Jr., Donald Helton, and Billy Helton.

Survivors include his sons, Tony Helton and wife Amy of Forest City, Robbie Helton and wife Amy of Cliffside, his sister, Margaret Toney of Winston-Salem, and his grandchildren, Victoria Wantuch, Rachel Mundorf,  Anthony Helton, II, Ben Harris, and Wyatt Helton as well as a great-grandson, Turner Wantuch.

A  private family graveside service was held at Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Daniel Selman officiating. 

The family  request that memorials be made in his memory to Hospice of The Carolina Foothills, Post Office Box 336, Forest City, North Carolina 28043.
