Henry David Best

Henry David Best, age 80 of Bostic, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City.

Henry was born July 25, 1940 in Haywood County.  He served his country proudly for 4 years in the United States Navy where he learned to weld.  He worked construction most of his life.  Henry retired from Duke Power Company after 16 years of being a supervisor. 

He was an outdoorsman and loved deer hunting and trout fishing.  He also loved his dogs.   In his spare time, he enjoyed tending his bees and growing a garden.  He was a lifetime member of the NRA, and the North American Hunting Club.  He was also a member of the American Legion Post 74 at Rutherfordton

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Brenda Mathews Best, one son, David Best of Statesville, one grandson, Blade Best of Statesville, one granddaughter, Mariah Best-Watts and husband Ben of China Grove, NC, three grandchildren, Aiden, Aislinn and Grayson of China Grove.

A private memorial service is planned and will be announced at a later date.
