Hazel Hawkins Upton age 99 of Waller, Texas and formally of Wellford, South Carolina died Thursday, September 2, 2021, at the home of her son after an extended illness.
Born July 13, 1922 in Rutherford County, North Carolina she was the daughter of the late Alice Mae Wilson and Roland Chivous Hawkins and was preceded in death by all of her sisters and brothers. She worked for Bute-Knit for over twenty years and was a lifelong Baptist.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Upton on July 7, 1996, and a great-grandson, Titus Kole Shreve.
Surviving are her sons, Jeffrey C. Upton and wife, Lee Ann of Waller. Texas and Leslie B. Upton and wife, Tina of Campobello, South Carolina; three granddaughters, Kristina Upton of Sacramento, California, Taylor Upton Shreve and husband, Kyle, and Molly Upton Winstead and husband, Cory, all of Boiling Springs, South Carolina; three great-granddaughters, Collins Rae Winstead, Jacey Lynn Winstead, Ellison Blaine Shreve, and a great-grandson on the way in December, Hollis Michael Winstead; three step- grandchildren, Mindy Bainbridge of Denver, Colorado, Kristi Appelt of Needville, Texas and Zac Braaksma of Beach City, Texas.
A family graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 4 o’clock at the Fort Prince Memorial Gardens in Wellford conducted by Pastor Brad Atkins of the Lake Bowen Baptist Church.
