Haydon Stacey Obituary

MSgt. Haydon H. Stacey, USAF, Retired, age 83 of Rutherfordton, died Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Hospice House in Forest City.

Haydon was born June 11, 1937 in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Wallace Dean Stacey and Ollie Mae Rowe Stacey.  He served for twenty-two years in the United States Air Force and retired as a Master Sergeant.  He was also a veteran of the Vietnam War.   Following his retirement, he returned to Rutherford County and worked for Parker Hannifin Co. where he retired a second time.

He was also a member of New Freedom Baptist Church in Green Creek. 

Haydon was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Joy Bailey Stacey who died in 2017 and his brother, Dean Rondo Stacey.

Survivors include his son, Darrell H. Stacey of Rutherfordton, daughter, Marcia S. Metcalf and husband Alan of Forest City, brother, Dale Stacey of Forest City, sisters, Jo Ann Johnson, Joyce Taylor, and Shirley McClellan all of Rutherfordton, Brenda Lane and husband James of Forest City.  There are also five grandchildren, Trisha Stacey, Kayla Gragg, Brooke Stacey, Alexis Steel and Taylor Whiteside, as well as seven great-grandchildren.

A Service from the graveside will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning, July 24, 2020 at New Freedom Baptist Church Cemetery in Polk County with military honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.   His body will lie in state from 1 until 5 o’clock Thursday in The Padgett and King Chapel for those that wish to pay their respects.
