Glennette Lavender

 Clara Glennette Lavender, age 74 of Ellenboro, died Monday, July 25, 2022, at Fairhaven of Bostic.  Glennette was born on May 11, 1948, in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Joseph Clyde Greene and Nellie May Padgett Greene.  Glennette was a retired educator having worked her entire career with the Rutherford County School System.  She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Gardner-Webb University and completed her Master’s Degree from Western Carolina University.   

Her first teaching assignment was at Alexander Elementary School, then at Oakland Elementary School and finally at Spindale Elementary School where she retired.  

Glennette was a member of Corinth Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher in the preschool department.  Her family was everything to her and she was a loving mother and grandmother.  She loved shopping and was famous for her homemade biscuits and slaw. 

Survivors include her son, Todd Lavender and wife Amy of Bostic, her daughter, Lisa Tauss and husband Frank of Haymarket, Virginia, her brother, Dean Greene and wife Elizabeth of Matthews, North Carolina, and sister, Shirley Pittman and husband Bill of Ellenboro.  There are also three grandchildren, Taylor Kobelja, Addie Lavender, and Ben Lavender.

The funeral service will be held at 3 o’clock Friday, July 29, 2022 in Corinth Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Conner and Reverend Ad Hopper officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock Thursday evening at Padgett and King Mortuary.
