Ginger Guy Obituary

Ginger Padgett Guy, age 58 of Forest City, died Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Hospice of The Carolina Foothills.  Ginger was born on December 18, 1962 and was the daughter of Libby Padgett Guy of Forest City and the late Ron Guy who died in 2005.

Ginger was a member of Florence Baptist Church until her health declined and she more recently attended First Baptist Church of Forest City where she was baptized as a young girl and was a former member.   In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Thad and Ola Guy of Marion and Jim and Lib Padgett of Forest City.

She possessed a warm and caring personality and her smile could always brighten any room.  Despite being diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at the age of 12, her spirit of fun and adventure was never lost.  She had a love for music, dancing, and animals, especially horses.

A graduate of East Rutherford High School in the class of 1981, she continued her education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she graduated Sum Cum Lade with a degree in nursing.   She worked for 18 years in the Newborn /Labor and Delivery at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte where her compassion and ability excelled.  She was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing.  Despite the daily battles with diabetes and a professional career, her faith in God and a belief that with God’s help all things are possible, she was blessed with a son, Christian who was born in 1996.  For the past several years, she made her home with her mother.

Survivors include her son, Zachary Christian Perry of Conover, North Carolina, her mother, Libby Padgett Guy of Forest City, her sisters, Angela Flack and husband Tripp of Forest City, Tammy Wise and husband, David of Nebo, and her nieces and nephews, Ashelea Flack Chaney and husband Reid, Chad Flack and wife Lauren, Ally Flack, Blake Wise,  Myron Wise and wife Maile as well as great-nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 11 o’clock in the First Baptist Church of Forest City with the Reverend Dr. Garin Hill officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church.  Interment will be private for the family in the Cool Springs Cemetery.

The family respectfully request that memorials in her memory be made to Hospice of The Carolina Foothills, Post Office Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043 or South Mountain Christian Camp, Post Office Box 9, Bostic, NC 28018.
