Obituary

Gaynell Harris Brackett, age 90 of Eastwood Village, Bostic, died Friday, January 31, 2020 at Fairhaven Home.  Gaynell was born on December 21, 1929 in Cliffside, North Carolina and was a daughter of the late Timmons Harris and Maude Cobb Harris.  She lived in Cliffside most of her life and was a graduate of Cliffside High School.  She was a lifelong member of Cliffside Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School, was a member of the Choir and served in various other church activities including the WMU and the Ladies Circle.

Gaynell worked for Cone Mills and her last job was in the Sewing and Training Department where she retired.  She was a faithful and loving wife, and devoted mother and grandmother.  She was preceded in death by her sisters, Marjorie Matheny and her husband, George, Sue Campbell and her husband Les, and a grandson, Paul Brackett.

Survivors include her husband, Herman Y. Brackett, a son, Richard Brackett and wife Karen of Stokesdale, NC, a grandson, Adam Brackett of Greensboro, and brother, James Harris and companion, Carolyn McDaniel of Forest City.

A service from the graveside will be held 2 o’clock on Tuesday afternoon, February 4, 2020 at the Cliffside Cemetery with the Reverend Mike Elgin officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
