Freida Fowler Cordell

Freida Fowler Cordell, age 63 of Rutherfordton, died Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Atrium Health in Shelby.  Freida was born on December 17,1957 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Bobby Dean Fowler, Sr and Ruth Blake Fowler.  She worked as an insurance agent for Maxwell B. Hamrick Insurance Agency.  Freida was a graduate of Chase High School and a faithful member of Gray’s Creek Baptist Church where she was the choir director and loved to sing. 

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael David Cordell and brother, Michael Fowler. 

Survivors include her husband, David Cordell, two daughters, Becky Honeycutt and husband Brian of Rutherfordton, Mandy Kimbrell and husband Johnny of Inman, SC, a brother, Bobby Fowler and wife Carolyn of Rutherfordton, and his sister, Susan Ficken and husband Eddie of Inman, SC.  There are also her grandchildren whom she adored, Austin Lancaster and wife Casey, Montana Honeycutt, and Lucas Kimbrell, great-grandchild, Laney Lancaster, here adopted grandchildren, Isaah Robbins, Daniel Robbins and Kaden as well as a number of nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service will be held at 2 o’clock on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Grays Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Bryan Ezell officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock Wednesday evening at Padgett and King Mortuary. For the safety of those attending,  the family request that masks and social distancing be observed.
