Fred Albert Spears, Jr.

Fred Albert Spears, Jr, age 72 of Ellenboro died May 2, 2019 at his residence.  Fred was born February 8, 1947 in Murphy, North Carolina and was a son of the late of Fred Albert Spears, Sr, and Lidia Nancy Green Spears.   Fred was retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer and he served his country in the United States Army.

Fred was a Baptist and he graduated in the Class of 1967 at Chase High School.  He loved animals and was always concerned for their welfare, and was a faithful supporter of the ASCPA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his niece, Tanya Beaver Huffman.

Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia Spears of Ellenboro,  his sisters, Linda Spears McDaniel and husband Bob, Nita Spears Beaver and husband Eugene all of Mooresboro,  his niece, Tammy McDaniel and nephews, Kevan McDaniel, Sr., Todd Beaver and great-nephew, Kevan McDaniel, Jr.

A service from the graveside will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with military honors accorded by the North Carolina Army National Guard.   Visitation will be from 12 noon until 2 o'clock Saturday at Padgett and King Mortuary prior to the service.
