Frances “Tex” Johnson Toney, 93, of Forest City, NC, died Friday, February 24, 2023 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.  Born in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late McClure Johnson and Georgia Laughter Johnson, and widow of the late Crayton Toney.   Tex worked for Rutherford Electric Membership Corporation as an administrative assistant for many years and was a member of Florence Baptist Church, Forest City.  She enjoyed baking and would always say her goodies were “Made with love!”

Survivors include her son, C. Greg Toney and wife Mary; daughter, Rosemari Holland; her sister, Betty Lowrance; grandchildren, Megan T. Bolger, and husband Darren, Brian Toney, Jenny Holland, and Charity Holland; and great grandchildren, Brandon and Zachary Bolger,  Je'Shaun, Ian and Emmett Gill and Malachi Dato. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Funeral services will be held 3 pm Monday, February 27th, in the Padgett & King Chapel with Reverend Dr. Bobby Gantt and Reverend Tonya Garrison officiating.  Interment will follow in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm Monday at Padgett & King.  Memorials may be made to Florence Baptist Church Children’s Ministries, 201 S. Broadway Street, Forest City, NC 28043.
