Elizabeth Metcalf Bridges, age 79 of Forest City, died Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Hospice House in Forest City.  Libby, as she was known to her family and friends, was born in Rutherford County on August 12, 1944, and was the daughter of the late Clyde and Margaret Hardin Metcalf.  She was a graduate of R-S Central High School and Isothermal Community College.  Libby was a great cook, and she was especially gifted at baking the most delicious pies for her family and friends. 

Libby retired from American Fast Print in Spartanburg where she worked as a Lab Technician.   

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Todd Bridges in 2016.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Hal Bridges of the home, her son, Tim Bridges of Forest City, her brothers, Johnny Metcalf, and Tommy Metcalf both of Forest City.  There are also two grandchildren, Kelsey Alana Bridges and Jonathan Alexander (Alec) Bridges.

The funeral service will be held at 11 o’clock on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in The Padgett and King Chapel.  The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o’clock prior to the service at the mortuary.  Interment will be private for the family at Cool Springs Cemetery.
