Earl Jefferson McCurry

Earl Jefferson McCurry, 94, of Forest City, died Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Fairhaven Home, Bostic.  A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late C J McCurry and Ethel Simmons McCurry and widower of the late Nelle Watson McCurry.  Earl worked forty two years in the trucking department for Stonecutter Mills and received the Million Mile award for his service.  After retirement he worked as a driver for Watkins Automobiles and many other local car dealers.  Earl was a member of First Baptist Church, Forest City where he was a church greeter for many years, a U S Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and enjoyed many types of sports.

Survivors include his son, Mark McCurry and wife Beverly of Forest City, his daughter, Connie McCurry Champion of Forest City, granddaughters, Amy Bland and husband Clint of Ellenboro, and Emily Sain and husband John of Forest City, and six great grandchildren, Carson, Abby, and Griffin Bland, and Rylan, Weston, and Emerson Sain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Gene and Ray McCurry and son-in-law, Max Champion.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 29th at 4 pm in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Garin Hill officiating.  Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Friday from 2:30 until 3:45 pm in the fellowship hall of the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 211 W. Main St, Forest City, NC 28043 or Florence Baptist Church Building Fund, 201 S. Broadway St, Forest City, NC 28043.  The family will be at the home of his son, Knollwood Drive, Forest City.
