Douglas O.  (Doug) Jernigan, Jr., age 73 of Ellenboro, died Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Fairhaven Home of Forest City.  Doug was born on November 28, 1951, in Vicksburg, Mississippi and is a son of Douglas O. Jernigan, Sr. and the late Laverne Oates Jernigan. 

Doug worked for more than 30 years at Mastercraft Corporation and retired as Supervisor of Maintenance.  He had also been the owner and operator of Doug Jernigan Heating and Air Conditioning. 

He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and Past President of the Forest City Jaycees. He also was a coach in both baseball and football programs in the community.    Doug enjoyed music and once played drums in a local band. More than anything, Doug loved his family and would always support them in any way he could.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Kay Dobbins Jernigan in 2024.

Survivors include his father, Doug Jernigan, Sr., of Clinton, South Carolina, his son, Brandon Jernigan and wife Kim of Rutherfordton, his daughter, Heather Jernigan of Gastonia, his brother, Jeffery Jernigan and wife Kim of Clinton, his grandchildren, Mackinzie, Hunter, Maddox, and Presley, and his dog, Pede. 

The funeral service will be held at 3 o’clock on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Corinth Baptist Church with the Reverend Mike Conner and Reverend Ad Hopper officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 until 2:45 prior to the service in the Sanctuary.
