Dorothy Jane Helton, age 83 of Ellenboro, died Monday, January 6, 2025, at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Rutherford County, and a daughter of the late William Luther Helton and Oma Jane Hamrick Helton.  Dorothy was a homemaker, a graduate of Ellenboro High School. and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.  She was a loving person, and she always enjoyed visiting her friends and sitting under the trees as they talked.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Joyce Helton and Helen Helton, as well as, a brother, Dan Helton.

Survivors include her brother, Claude Helton of Mt. Airy, NC and a number of nieces and nephews that loved her.

She will lie in repose in The Padgett and King Chapel from 10 until 4 o’clock on Thursday, January 9, 2025, for those wishing to pay their respects and sign the guest registry. 

A memorial service will be held later and will be announced.  Interment will be private at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
