On Thursday, September 7, 2023, Doris Edwards Kimball took a long-anticipated journey to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Taking this journey before her were her husband's, Walter Talmadge Edwards, Charles Frederick Kimball II, and her loving son Walter Matthew Edwards. Although her spirit left this earth, she left a legacy behind.
Remaining to carry on her legacy are her children: Susan Elliott, Sherry Smith, Martha Feimster, David Edwards (Kim), Danny Edwards (Sharon), Sam Edwards (Sharon), Mary Ruppe (Terry), George Edwards, and Mark Edwards. She was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Doris Edwards was determined for all ten of her children to graduate from high school, with hard work and dedication they did. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years until she began her sewing career at Shadowline in Morganton, NC. She continued to sew and was a top-notch seamstress. Doris was an active member of Harmon Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed the Rutherford County Senior Center where she was a cheerleader and adored dancing as well as arts and crafts. She loved working with flowers and painting to relax. Spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren was the time she enjoyed the most.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock on Monday, September 11, 2023, in The Padgett and King Chapel with the Reverend Judah Crowder officiating. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 prior to the service at the mortuary. The family will be at the home on Spindale Street, Spindale.
Memorials may be made to St Jude Children's Research, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
