Doris Greene Ebert Obituary

July 1, 2023, Doris Greene Ebert, 80, of Mooresboro, NC passed away peacefully at home. Holding her hand was her beloved husband of 56 years, Fritz. Leaving her earthly body, she walked hand in hand with her Heavenly Father to her eternal home.

Fritz and Doris were married April 16, 1967 and for several years resided in Miami, Florida with their daughters, Margaret, Sherrie, and Theresa. In 1971 they moved back to North Carolina, where their daughter Lisa was born. For 51 years they resided in Bostic, where they raised children, grandchildren,  and great grandchildren. They had just recently moved to Mooresboro, NC, across from Lisa and her husband, Jamie. Fritz was her soulmate, in every sense of the word.

Doris, the eldest of five children was born on October 25, 1942 in Rutherfordton, North Carolina. She became a florist for several years when moving back to NC, then later worked at Stonecutter Mills, Spindale Mills, and PPG. She happily left PPG in 1994 to be a stay-at-home Grandma.

Textiles was Doris’s vocation, but her family was her passion. She was hands on in every aspect of each child and grandchild’s life. From cutting box tops and soup labels for classroom fundraisers to school programs, baseball games, and travel ball. Doris wasn’t going to miss anything her children or grandchildren were a part of. She worked hard and loved even harder.

Doris loved Florence Church and all of her church family. She was deeply involved at her church through serving during Wednesday night meals and as a part of the bereavement committee, the knit- crochet ministry, previously helping with bible drill and as a member of the Faye Bishop Sunday school class.  Something special she did for many years was to make flower arrangements throughout the year for the grave of her friend and fellow church member, George Ledford. She loved the Lord and loved reading His word. As time drew closer to the end, Doris loved to sit on her front porch listening to old time gospel music. She would close her eyes and sing every song. She was at peach there.

Doris was predeceased by father Elvis Arrowood, and Mother Margaret Shelton Arrowood, who both died in 2010. She was also preceded in death by her brother J.B. Greene and sister, Maxine McKinney.

She is survived by husband, Fritz Max Ebert, of the home, daughters, Margaret Lowery of Cliffside, Lisa Ebert-Powell and her husband, Jamie of Mooresboro, Sherrie Webb and her husband Steve, of Ray City, GA, and Theresa Ebert of Conyers, Georgia; sisters, Wanda Jenkins, and her husband David, of Carolina Shores, NC, and Dorlis Roberts and her husband, J.P. of Rutherfordton. Her beloved grandchildren include Sara Smith and Jonathon Smith, Hayden McKinney (fiancé Taylor Collins) and Max McKinney, Kyle Webb and Kali Webb Donnelly, and Tyler Nanney. Great grandchildren include Karson, Kayman, Caden, Benjamin, and Ledger, and a number of nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her two kitties, Tobey and Schatzie.

Services will be private for the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Florence Baptist Backpack Program, 201 S. Broadway St, Forest City, NC 28043, St. Jude’s Research Hospital Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 , or to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, P O Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
