Donna Elizabeth Fox, age 67, lovingly known as “Nonna,” passed peacefully to her heavenly home surrounded by the love of her family on Saturday, March 7th. She was born on December 24, 1958, in Mitchell County, North Carolina.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Fox and Ernestine Burleson Carpenter, and her brother, Johnny Fox.
She leaves behind a family who meant everything to her, including her lifelong partner, Cameron Flack; her two beloved sons, Christopher Fox (Jamie) and Aaron Fox (Karissa); and her pride and joy, her grandchildren, Madyson, Hannah, and Zephyr. She is also survived by her siblings, Kenneth Fox (Sharon) of Bakersville, Debbie Whittington (Melvin) of Lenoir, Kathy Pierce (Brian) of Rutherfordton, James Fox of Marion, Michael Carpenter (Kristen) of Union Mills, and Sarah Thomas of Rutherfordton. She also leaves behind many extended family members, including her cherished great-niece, Malaya.
Donna was a protector by nature and the heart of her family. She was known for her strength, independence, humor, and unwavering work ethic. Even while facing health challenges, she carried herself with remarkable grace and dignity. Donna held a strong faith in the Lord, which gave her comfort and strength throughout her life, especially during her health journey. Her faith helped guide her through difficult days and brought her peace.
During her battle with cancer, Donna was blessed with incredible love and support from her family, especially her sister, Debbie. Debbie stood faithfully by her side, offering strength, comfort, and unwavering care throughout her journey. The family is deeply grateful for the compassion and dedication Debbie showed during this difficult time.
To know Donna was to love her. She adored her family deeply, especially her grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness and pride. Becoming “Nonna” was one of the greatest joys of her life.
Later in life, Donna also developed a deep love for animals and treasured her fur babies, who brought her great comfort and companionship.
Donna dedicated much of her life to her work, serving more than 20 years at Tanner in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, and more than 20 years at Baxter in Marion, North Carolina, where she later retired. Her dedication and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside her.
Donna will be remembered for her strength, her laughter, and the fierce love she had for her family. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the memories she created will be cherished forever. Her love lives on in the family she cherished so deeply.
A funeral service will be held and officiated by the Reverend Keith Stephenson at The Second Baptist Church of Rutherfordton on Thursday, March12, 2026 at 5 o'clock in the afternoon. Visitation will be prior to the service from 3 to 4:45 in the church sanctuary. Interment will follow at the Oak Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
