Donna Burnette Kohler, age 71, of Rutherford County, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord on the morning of Monday, May 12, 2025, while surrounded by the love and comfort of her family in the home of her daughter, Amber in Chesnee, South Carolina.

Born in Marion, Donna was the cherished daughter of the late John “Hicks” and Emma Burnette. She dedicated much of her life to serving others through her work as a beautician at Clyde Jones Barber Shop in Ellenboro and later as a supply clerk at Cone Mills, where she met her devoted husband, Daniel Kohler. After working many years, she retired to spend time with her grandchildren. She also spent much of her time crafting, making jewelry, cooking and baking.

She was a faithful member of Chase Baptist Church where she was a dedicated servant. She used her love for music and played the piano for over thirty years, was a leader in the ladies’ mission ministry, and had a passion and love for the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ministry.

In addition to her beloved husband, Donna is survived by her loving daughter, Amber Dominquez (Scott); and her grandchildren, Riley and Macey. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother, Jim Burnette (Linda); sister, Linda Hewitt (Lamar); and dear sister-in-law, Jeanie Burnette, along with numerous nieces and nephews whom she held close to her heart.

Donna was preceded in death by her brothers, Steve Burnette, Harold Wayne Burnette, and Roy Burnette, as well as her two unborn children, who she longed to meet again in Heaven.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Chase Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Scott Butler and Dr. Jerry White. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:15 p.m. at the church. For all in attendance it is requested that bright colors are worn in memory of Donna, as a celebration of her vibrant spirit and the joy she brought to our lives. Also, in lieu of flowers, the family request that supplies for Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes are brought. There will be donation boxes present as you enter the church. Following the celebration, there will be a graveside service at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.

The family will be gathering at the home of her daughter in Chesnee, South Carolina, and wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered love and support during this time of remembrance.
