Donata passed away in her home on June 6th. She was preceeded in death by two of her brothers: Robert and Phil Glavey.

She was born on October 21, 1948 to Robert and Mary Bird Glavey in Trenton, New Jersey.

She is survived by her husband Jess Jones of 57 years, their three children: Jess “Wayne” Jones Jr. of Rutherfordton, Dawn McEntyre of Bostic, and Jennifer Jones Rich (Mark) of Bostic. Their six grandchildren Stephen Jones McEntyre of Bostic, Haily Jones Jacobs (Jesse) of Raleigh, Deion Jones of Rutherfordton, Taylor Rich Dock (Kevin) of Junction City, Kansas, Jessica Rich (Andre Gabriel) of Bostic, John Rich II “JR” of Bostic, 4 great grandchildren with one on the way, her brothers and sisters: Tom Glavey of Florida, John Glavey of North Carolina, Jim Glavey of Georgia, Mary Parsons of North Carolina, and Kitty Lambert of Florida.

Donata was involved in various community churches and missionary groups. She was active in the Community Bible Study, helped start Celebrate Recovery, and did a jail ministry for a couple of years. Her love of Christ and her family was seconded by her love of watching deer graze in the yard and crafting.

She was an avid crafter from crochet and knitting to tatting and quilting. She made and sold countless tats and donated homemade hats, scarves and mittens to communities in Africa and local churches.

One of her last wishes was to see all the wonderful creatures God has created. Although she did not witness every creature, her wish was more than fulfilled.

Although she may be gone, her memory will live in us all.

A family directed memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2pm at Concord Baptist Church officiated by Reverend Travis Laflin.  Visitation will be held from 1:30 until 2pm on Sunday in the church sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you make donations to a mission group of your choice.
