Donald Ray Norman

Donald Ray Norman, age 77 of Rutherfordton died Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. Donald was born on March 19, 1946, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Paul Norman and Lois McKinney Norman Houser. He worked in textiles for most of his life, first at Spindale Mills with 25 years service and later at 3 Tec Textiles where he retired after twelve years’ service.

Donald was a faithful member of Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church where he served on various committees.  The youth of the church were very special to him and together with his wife faithfully supported youth projects.  Serving the Lord was the most important part of his life and now he is in the presence of his Lord and fishing the waters of the Jordan river.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Ann Beheeler Norman, his daughters, Debbie Langston of Easley, SC, Donna King and Darlene King both of Rutherfordton, his brother, Michael Norman of Caroleen, his sister, Joyce Lovelace and husband J.C. of Bostic, step-sisters, Pat Bradley and husband Jerry, and Vera Winstead all of Forest City.  There are seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church with Reverend Chad Sisk, Reverend Buddy Campbell and Reverend Bill Alley officiating.  Interment will follow at Green River Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock on Friday evening at Padgett and King.
