Don Bailey Obituary

Don Bailey, age 83 of Ellenboro died Sunday, May 30, 2021, at Hospice of The Carolina Foothills in Forest City.  Don was born on April 16, 1938, in the Concord Community of Rutherford County and was a son of the late Farris Glen Bailey and Ruth Harrill Bailey.  He was a lifelong member of the Concord Baptist Church and a graduate of Ellenboro High School.  Don also served in the N.C. National Guard and was a member of Forest City Masonic Lodge No. 381, AF&AM.   He worked for many years in the automobile industry and was the owner and operator of Bailey’s Used Cars.  Following retirement, Don enjoyed working for Advance Auto Parts in Forest City.  

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Barbara S. Bailey of the home, his step-children, Denise Capaldo and husband Robert of Ellenboro, Michele Funderburke and husband Bill of Rutherfordton, and Edward Rizzo and wife Lillian of Phoenix, Arizona, his brother, Glen Bailey of Forest City as well as step-grandchildren, Dominique Capaldo, Robert Capaldo, III, Brittany Matney, Taylor Funderburke, Carter Rizzo, and Pierce Rizzo, and great-grandchild, Hazel Matney.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday, June 2, 2012, in the Concord Baptist Church with the Reverend Travis Laflin officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the cemetery.
