David Russ Obituary

David Crawford Russ, age 87 of Forest City, died Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at his home.  David was born on May 15, 1934, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Clarence Landrum Russ and Beulah Mae Fisher Russ.   He worked for over 50 years for Stonecutter Mills Corporation and for many years served as the Pastor of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Columbus.  David was strong in his faith and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Clark Russ and a daughter, Darlene Hoover.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Overcash Russ, a son, Henry David Russ, and wife Pamela of Forest City, two daughters, Sandra Yelton and husband Bruce, and Sonja Spicer all of Forest City, two sisters, Patsy Caldwell of Caroleen and Linda Moore of Spindale, his step-children, Tonya Turner (David Horton) of Caroleen, Lesia Turner (Herschell Hipps) of Weaverville, Charlie McCraw (Beverly) of Chesnee and Marvin McCraw (Myra) of Inman, SC.  There are also 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 16 step-grandchildren and 8 step great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 11 o’clock on Monday, September 20, 2021, in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Tommy Turner officiating.   Interment will follow in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o’clock Monday at the mortuary prior to the service.
