Dane Davis Toney, age 66 of Ellenboro died Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center. Dane was born December 11, 1952 in Rutherford County and was the son of the late Carl Hoyt Toney and Shirley Babington Toney.
He was a self employed building contractor and a member of First United Methodist Church of Forest City. Dane served at the rank of SP4 in the United States Army with overseas service in Korea and he received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid deer hunter. His sister, Sherry Toney DeLane preceded him in death.
Survivors include his sister, Lundy Toney Wright and husband Wilbur of Ellenboro, nephew, Stephen Sorrow, Jr. and wife Dixie of Boone, his care giver, Shirley Mosley Hampton, and three cats that brought him so much joy.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Monday, June 10, 2019 in The Padgett and King Chapel with Reverend Pat Jobe officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard following the service at the chapel. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o'clock Monday prior to the service. Interment will be private for the family at Cool Springs Cemetery.
