Clark Griffin Hoyle, age 88 of Forest City, died Saturday, March 8, 2025. Clark was born on November 2, 1936, in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Dock and Geneva Moore Hoyle. He was a 1955 graduate of Cool Springs High School, attended Western Carolina University and later at Gardner-Webb College where he graduated.
Clark worked as a supervisor in the business office for Duke Power Company where he retired. For many years he was a member of Alexander Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, R.A. Leader and member of the choir. He was instrumental in establishing the Alexander Day Care at Alexander Baptist and served as Chairman of the Alexander Day Care Board of Directors. Clark and his family later joined the membership of Florence Baptist Church where he continued to be active and serve. He also formerly served in the North Carolina National Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Shires Hoyle who died in 2009, his daughter, Melanie Dawn Hoyle, and his brother, Rodger Hoyle.
Survivors include his sons, Jon Hoyle and wife Kandy of Forest City, Richard Hoyle and wife Mendy of Ellenboro, his daughters, Sharon Shytle of Forest City, and Luann Butler and husband Tim of Bostic, his sister, Linda Price of Piedmont, South Carolina; his grandchildren, Jared Godfrey, Jason Godfrey, Kathryn Holland, Melanie Robbins, Suzanne Cooper, Kayla Hoyle, Kelsey Hall, Kelly Hoyle, Nathan Hoyle, and Justin Butler, great-grandchildren, Phoebe Godfrey, Gavin Godfrey, Molly Godfrey, Isabella Godfrey, Millie Godfrey, Addi Byers, Rylee Byers, Grady Byers, Easton Holland, Bostic Holland, Jackson Holland, Cade Cooper, Quinn Cooper, Savannah Hoyle, Blaine Robbins, J.C. Robbins , and Kayleigh Butler.
The funeral service will be held at 3 o’clock on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Florence Baptist Church with the Reverend Daniel Selman and Reverend Eddie Bolin officiating. Interment will follow in the Alexander Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock on Monday evening at The Padgett and King Mortuary.
