Claire Marie Geoffroy Daigle Obituary
Claire Geoffory Daigle, age 78, of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024, at Hospice House in Forest City.
Claire was the wife of her late husband Edmond “Moe” Daigle, and was born in Lowell Massachusetts on July 17, 1946, to the late Gerald F. Geoffroy and Alice Roy Geoffroy. She attended Lowell High School and later earned a degree at Berlin Community College in Berlin, New Hampshire. After having children, she and Moe moved their family to North Carolina in May of 1981, and called Rutherfordton home ever since. Being a spiritually devoted person, Claire quickly found church connections within the community, eventually finding a home at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Forest City. She proudly worked for Odean Keever and Associates as a successful Real Estate Agent. She was a successful business woman because she cared about people. Her outgoing, charming personality added to her clients’ pleasure and excitement as they selected their new homes.
Over the years she treasured many sentimental tokens such as her baby shoes, blanket, bowl and eating utensils. She valued many photos of family and friends and kept close to her heart every letter from every child. She had a great devotion to reading the bible and prayed to her loving Lord many times throughout the day. Claire enjoyed cooking traditional French dishes such as her extraordinary apples pies, creme puffs, and Christmas meat pies. She occasionally diverted from French cuisine to Irish cookery by making her famous corned beef and cabbage.
Claire loved helping people in many different ways. But, particularly assisting family members and friends to start a new life in Rutherford County. She most importantly loved her husband and children, grandchildren and extended family. Her favorite pastime was spending time with them.
We will never forget her sense of humor. Claire was very funny and enjoyed making people laugh. She loved to laugh. She also loved to speak French with her younger brother Gerard, and engage in many humorous French family antics. Part of her humor was to remind her family and friends that SHE was the boss, and in charge!
She is preceded in death by her husband Moe, parents Gerald and Alice Geoffroy, brother Richard, and Sister-in-law Anne. She is survived by her children Michelle of Rutherfordton, Marc and wife Mary of Inverness, Florida, Michael and his wife Araceli of Rutherfordton, Matthew and his wife Seema of Green Hill, and Chasity Ross and her husband Kevin of Shelby. She is survived by seven grandchildren, Ian Clements, Rebecca Alrish, Rachel Daigle, Grace Daigle, Hana Daigle, Ibrahim Daigle, and Sofia Daigle, a sister Gloria of Rutherfordton, a brother Gerard of Jermyn, Pennsylvania. She looked forward to greeting her first Great grandchild, expected in January to parents Rebecca and Basel Alrish.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church with The Rev. Father Herbert Burke as celebrant. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. Preceding the liturgy there will be a viewing in the Immaculate Conception Narthex at 11 o'clock followed by recitation of the Holy Rosary at 11:30.
