Charlotte Street Obituary

Charlotte Melton Street, age 69 of Bostic died Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Atrium-Cleveland in Shelby.  Charlotte was born on November 26, 1952, in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Robert DeWitt Melton and Ruby Waters Melton.  She was a faithful member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church where she was pianist and sang in the choir.  Charlotte worked for many years at Citizens Federal Savings and Loan as well as Centura Bank where she retired.

Charlotte was loving and devoted wife to her late husband, Hugh Edward Street who died in July of 2022. At the time of his death, they had been married for fifty years.  For Charlotte, her family was first and foremost as she doted on them with love and affection.  Having no children of their own, she loved and cared for her niece and nephew as her own.  She loved spending her time and talents on them as well as her great-nieces and great-nephews.  Her sweet spirit was genuine and making others feel loved was her greatest gift.

Survivors include her sister, Shelba Melton Sinclair of Bostic, her niece, Emily Padgett and husband Josh, her nephew, Jason Coker, and great nieces and nephews, Garrett and Kaylee Padgett, Clayton Padgett (Amanda Hutchins and her daughter Emery), Dawson Padgett (Kassie McGinnis), Chloe Coker, Clare Coker, Colton Coker, and Cagney Coker.

Charlotte also loved the Bright family where following her retirement, she cared for their four boys each day. She loved the Bright Family and the time she spent working for them.

The funeral service will be held at 3 o’clock on Monday, November 21, 2022, in the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church with the Reverend Paul White, Jr. and Reverend Jason Toney officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be at the church from 1:30 until 2:45 on Monday prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 801 Mt. Lebanon Church Road, Bostic, North Carolina 28018.
The family will be gathered at Charlotte’s home on Sunday afternoon for anyone wishing to visit.
