Charles Griffin Hamrick, age 94 of Ellenboro died Monday, April 27, 2026, at his home. Charles was born on February 14,1932, in Ellenboro on the same farm where he died. He was a son of the late Winfred and Eva Griffin Hamrick.
Charles was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, and he was a Master Mechanic. He worked for Carolina Freight in Cherryville where he retired as supervisor of Road Tractor Maintenance. He loved farming and tractors and was especially fond of John Deere Tractors. Charles also served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Matheny Hamrick who died in 1995 and his brother, Gerald Hamrick.
Survivors include his sons, Gary Hamrick and wife Dee of Ellenboro, and Russell Hamrick and wife Melissa of Bostic, his daughter, Linda Hamrick Shehan and husband Dean of Hickory, his grandchildren, Rebecca, John, Andy, and Abby as well as a number of great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 o’clock on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, in The Padgett and King Chapel with the Reverend Chris Glawson officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o’clock prior to the service at the mortuary.
