Carolyn Rhymer Robbins, age 87 of Forest City died Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Fairhaven Home of Bostic. She was born on October 8, 1936 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Samuel Gaston Rhymer and Hettie Lee Stacey Rhymer.
Carolyn was a member of Kistler’s Chapel United Methodist Church and was a talented seamstress. She worked for several local plants including Buster Brown, Tultex, Sara Lee and finally at Doncaster Tanner Companies. Carolyn was a selfless person, always putting the needs of others before herself. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Hollis Robbins, Jr in 1998, her daughter, Janet Edwards and seven of her siblings.
Survivors include her daughters, Vicki Robbins Ruppe and husband Barry of Rutherfordton, Kelly Robbins Cloninger and husband Norman of Lumberton, Melinda Robbins Collier and husband Bud of Bostic, and Allison Greco of Rutherfordton, a sister, Sudie Hicks of Lenior, as well as eight grandchildren, Nick Ruppe and wife Rebecca, Lindsey Patterson and husband Nathan, Jordan Hamrick and husband Devin, Cameron Edwards, Will Edwards, Brandon Edwards, Alex Greco and Ava Greco, great-grandchildren, Lauren, Noah, Hailey, and Maddie and a number of nieces and nephews as well as her grand dog Lucy.
The memorial service will be held at 3 o’clock on Sunday, October 29, 2023, in The Padgett and King Chapel with the Reverend Brandon Wood officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 o’clock prior to the service. Interment will be private for the family at Kistler’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
