Carolyn Hardin Obituary

On Tuesday, March 30, 2021, Carolyn Edwards Hardin, 72, left her earthly home to join her mother and father, Dorothy and Elwood Edwards, and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Amy and Amos Hardin, in heaven.

Carolyn grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina and attended The University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she received her Bachelors in Education, and Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina where she received her Master’s in Education.

Carolyn moved to Rutherford County in 1972 where she met the love of her life, Forrest Eugene Hardin, whom she married in 1973. Carolyn and ‘Gene’ had two daughters, Amanda Hardin Hall, who is married to Cory Hall and resides in the Annapolis, Maryland, and Shelley Hardin Hundley who is married to Christopher Hundley and resides in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  Carolyn had two grandchildren, Parker Camden Hall, 14, and Lily Caroline Hundley, 4, who were the true apples of their grandmother’s eye.

Carolyn was a beloved teacher for Rutherford County Schools for 27 years and a member of Spencer Baptist Church for 40.  Carolyn has been a member of Xi Delta Omicron Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi since 1974 and is still an active member.

Carolyn battled with numerous health issues that caused her significant discomfort and pain for the vast majority of her adult life and left her wheelchair bound for the last 8 years. Through all of her physical struggles, Carolyn kept her focus on her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and always maintained a positive attitude.  Carolyn’s kind heart and loving spirit will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock on Friday, April 2, 2021 in The Padgett and King Chapel officiated by the Reverend Bruce Caldwell and Reverend Cory Parks Hall.  Interment will follow in the Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o’clock prior to the service at the mortuary.  The family suggest social distancing protocols be observed.
